About Me

My name is Matthias Voigt and I am a Game Designer with a passion for not only playing games, but also designing them. Since I was a child I loved playing video games of all genres slipping into the roles of adventures, heroes, city mayors, villains and everything a game could offer. I worked in several fields in the job industry from gastronomy to health care and tried out several studies, until I found out, that I do not want to come home from work with just a paycheck. I want to do more. I realized that I am driven to create experiences like the games I played did. That is when I started studying Game Design.



I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Game Design at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences in 2022, where I received a broad education while working on several projects at the university with various roles from programming to designing, concepting, management and more. The mixture of data-driven design choices and the aesthetics of a game inspired me to write my Bachelor Papers about System Design and Narrative Design. Motivated to become a part of the gaming industry, I already started to participate in many events during my studies. I co-organized the exhibition „Devolution“ as a part of Amaze and participated in various other exhibition projects such as the Play Festival, to broaden my horizion beyond game development as well.

As part of my university internship I worked at Black Pants Studios on several game projects in an autonomous environment, where I could take a glimpse on how a professional development environment looks like. From concepting game ideas, designing mechanics to iterating concepts, programming in a game engine and working closely with the other departments. 

I am always eager to gain new knowledge and abilities and I am looking forward to opportunities of improving myself and broadening my skillset. If you have any questions or just want to drop a line, feel free to contact me!
